It was another hard-fought victory for Europe over the USA team at The Celtic Manor Resort last October. A single point separated the teams after three great days of golf as the European team came out on top 14 1/2 - 13 1/2. It is now the turn of Spaniard, Jose-Maria Olazabel to captain Europe when he takes his team to the wonderful Medinah Country Club in Illinois to defend the Ryder Cup.

The 39th Ryder Cup Matches being held at Medinah is just reward for a venue that has hosted three US Opens, two USPGA Championships and one US Senior Open. Located some 35 miles from downtown Chicago, Medinah Course No. 3 had undergone a $1.5m renovation to ensure it is in prime condition as the two teams compete for the special gold cup donated by seed merchant, Samuel Ryder back in 1927.
